We’re Bringing Sexy Back

Today we took TGF Haircutters by storm. Or by four people who really needed haircuts. It was all really sort of impromptu; mom and I went to go pick up the boys from drum camp in her new KIA Spectra (I SO got to drive) and on the way home mom informed me that we were going to stop to get Ian a haircut. It might not seem like it, but this is a big deal. Both Ian and Jacob have sported long, shaggy hair (the “in” style right now..) for the past year or so, and have, up until now, refused to get it cut. So we drove to TGF and mom said “I think I might get a haircut too,” to which I promptly replied, “I’m actually in big need of one as well.” Jacob refused, but mom bribed him with some multiflavored tic tacs that he wanted at HEB and he agreed to get a trim. So 2 hours and lots of hair loss later, we were stylin’. To show off our new fashions, a few pictures for your enjoyment…..

Ian: He flipped through a book of haircuts while he was waiting and picked one he liked, which he showed to the lady, and voila! A star was born!

BEFORE…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..AFTER!!!

Mom: Mom didn’t want anything fancy, just a few inches cut off for a fresh look

BEFORE………………………………………………………………………………………………………………AFTER!!

Me: My hair was super long, so I got 3 or 4 inches cut off and decided to try side bangs again (which confused my hair cutter lady). The only thing I don’t like is that it’s all one length (except for the bangs and the hair that frames my face), so I think mom’s going to layer the ends so it’s not big and poofy.

BEFORE…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..AFTER!!!

Jake: Jacob actually went a lot shorter than we thought he would agree to (he claims that the lady cut it shorter than he told her to), but it turned out good anyway. Except I do miss his curls.

BEFORE…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..AFTER!!!

The End!!!

MEH.

I don’t really want to go to work today. Thankfully, my shift is on bookfloor, not the cafe. Sigh…scratch that. I just double checked and it IS in cafe. Joy of all joys. However, I don’t go in until 4, and we close at 9 on Sundays, so it’s more like a 6 hour shift, which isn’t quite as bad. fjowjflshgskfl

Moving on…

Amarillo was awesome. Fantastic. Amazing. Stupendous. Crazy. Incredible.
etc. etc. etc.

This is going to be a really boring post, but I can’t think of anything interesting to write about at this point in time. I’m back in that waiting period, and it’s not a place I particularly like to be.

On Monday, dad, the boys, and I are going on a mini-three-day vacation; we’re going to do some lake stuff, maybe schlitterbahn for a day…just general hanging out, so that will be nice. I get to put off work again for another couple of days.

ah ha…I just watched the “How to be Emo” video - crazy.

Okay, I’m putting an end to this lame and boring blog. So until next time!

Zoom Zoom

Woooo I finally got a new car! It’s so nice driving myself around again. It’s a little 1994 Honda Civic, which means super good gas mileage and lower gas bills! I have to admit, I really do miss my Oldsmobile, and actually went out for a drive in it today around the neighborhood. It had a tendency to drop into neutral when I went around the cul-de-sacs, but that only lasted a few seconds and then it would put itself into gear again. Unfortunately, I’m told that this isn’t good, and now I have a new (to me) car to drive. So here it is: readers, meet car. Car, meet readers.

The most exciting thing about it for me is that it’s blue. Sadly, I am one of those people. I never minded driving a white car before, but I have to admit, the blue is very pretty. The car has a few cosmetic damages, but it drives perfectly and whatnot.

I’m still addicted to Deviant Art and post tons of pictures all the time, so if you want, check those out (link on the side bar >>>>).

And the most exciting news of all: 2 1/2 DAYS until I’m in Amarillo!!!!!!

Sprinting to You…As Quickly As Possible

I suppose I’m a little overdue for an update. Quite a few things have happened recently; it’s been a very busy week. First of all, I got a new phone. <insert excited dance here> It’s the Samsung M520 and it’s pretty. I also got a new phone PLAN - with Sprint, instead of AT&T - which is now completely my own. I’m not an ‘extra line’ anymore, and though it is more expensive, I like the fact that it’s my own and that I’m responsible for it. Geez…who knew responsibility could be such a rush…

Also in the news - a new obsession: DeviantArt. It’s a website that allows you to post any kind of art (photography, animation, poetry, etc) for others to view and comment and such. This is the nifty site that Charles’ uses to put up all of his fantastic poetry that he somehow manages to just spit out of his head. I finally set up an account so that I could comment on said poetry, and then Charles kept mentioning that I should post my photography. I gave in, and now I’m having way too much fun choosing which pictures to put up, messing around with them in photoshop, and then having others comment and favorite them. It turns out that people actually like my pictures…whodathunk? (Yes, you were right…I still love you.) So….are you bored? Intrigued? Couldn’t care less? Okay! Well here’s the link to my page, do with it what you will :) http://littlepaperthoughts.deviantart.com/

So speaking of the handsome devil, there’s only a week left before I depart Austin for the 8 hour trek to Amarillo. I am so ready. I don’t care that it’s 8 hours and that I’ve never driven that long before, or that it’s going to eat up a bunch of gas, OR that I’m going to be driving in my mom’s stylin’ minivan. It feels way longer than 3 1/2 weeks since I last saw him. Stupid distance. Hooray for new phone plans that mean I can talk to him whenever, not just after 9 pm on weekdays, and weekends. :-D

Chelle came over tonight and we watched The Other Boleyn Girl. Depressing movie. Not horrible though. Good girl time. We bought cake and a lottery ticket. Good times!

Alright…enough update for now. Keep your eyes peeled until next time…

Show and Tell!

UPS came to our house today and dropped off a package for me. This in itself is a rare occurrence, but not particularly a surprise, since a certain someone (coughCHARLES) told me that he was unnecessarily spending more of his money on me had gotten me something and sent it to me via amazon. So I opened up the box to find a very nicely wrapped package that looked very much like a cd. So to embellish my story, pictures!

ooOOOooo!

Sah-weet!

Wooo!

I am now the proud owner of the August Rush soundtrack. :o) Favorite tracks: 5 and 10 (Guitar Improv and August’s Rhapsody). Many thanks to you, love.

So today I did errands! That might normally not seem like such an exciting thing, but the great thing about today’s errands was the fact that I got to drive myself around; though still car-less, I get to use my step-mom’s mother’s car for the next few days because she’s out of town with me step-sister/mom. So after dropping my brother off at driving school and stopping by the bank, I went over to Hobby Lobby. Yesterday I got an idea for a mini-project and I actually had time today to do it. So the supplies I picked up at Hobby Lobby were: a photo album, sticky letters, and decorative emblem thingies. The project? A self-made cookbook. Now, I don’t really cook, so this kind of seems like an odd project to do, but when I successfully cook/bake things, I actually do enjoy it, so I figure I can just start collecting recipes of things that I like making, and add them to my now completed homemade cookbook. Each page is dedicated to one recipe; the written recipe will go on an index card and into one of the picture slots, and then when I actually make the recipe, I’ll take a picture of it, and add it in the other one. I don’t remember how I got this idea, but I thought it sounded like fun, so yeah. Annddddddd…more pictures, ready go:

The supplies…

The inside: recipes and pictures (…when I get them)

The inside page that I had way too much fun decorating.

I’m a Stripper!

Well, not in the traditional sense. So yesterday I accidentally stumbled across a website called Strip Creator. It’s a place where you can create your own comic strip using different backgrounds and characters taken from certain web comics. You choose what goes in each panel and you add dialogue to create whatever joke is waiting to flee from your mind. So what happens when Jessica is bored and encounters such a website? She creates lots of comics! I’ve made nine so far and they’re all about life as a book seller (ha, what else?). Here’s my first one, so enjoy and if you like it, feel free to check out my other ones.

Haley and I finally caught up with each other and figured out all our work days, and she’s coming down to Austin this weekend! It’s about dang time I see her again, and we have lots to catch up on, so I’m really excited. In the meantime I’m just working a lot, and in fact I need to leave soon for a closing shift tonight.

If you’re bored, try making your own comic. It’s super fun and it passes the time!

Meet Jeremy the Giraffe!

Jeremy the Giraffe

He’s adorable. And super soft. And ty named him “tiptop”, but that’s not an adequate name, so I renamed him. He’s been perched on top of one of the registers at work for awhile now and he keeps staring at me (fo’ realz), so I finally decided that I had no choice but to buy him.

It’s a Bug’s Life

There’s a cockroach on my floor.

It’s dead. Two nights ago, however, it was running rampant in my room, making me paranoid about walking anywhere. Cockroaches and I don’t really get along. I’m not necessarily afraid of them, but I’d really rather them not scurry anywhere near me, with their ribbed legs and long freakish antennae.

And yet, I still felt guilty about killing it. I didn’t do the whole shoe or rolled up magazine method. There’s too much room for error, too many chances that it will quickly crawl, hurt, under the nearest dresser or desk, out of reach of your next hit. Instead, I grabbed a glass off of my nightstand and turned it over on the bug. I know it didn’t starve to death, because even if you cut off a roach’s head, it can survive up to 9 days before it dies of starvation. I’m pretty sure it suffocated, or according to this website, choked on its own flatulence (farts, for all you newbies out there). Delightful, isn’t it?

Why am I talking about this? Basically because there’s nothing much more exciting going on in my life right now. Kassey’s still in Illinois, Chelle is leaving today for the rest of June, I don’t have a car, and Charles is still 9 hours away from me, which is more than a bit unbearable.

Ah, life.

[insert witty title here]

This time I’m not going to apologize for not posting in a couple of days, since those days were wonderfully occupied by a certain person named Charles. Needless to say, it was fantastic finally being able to see him again, though that much harder to let him go when the time came. For some reason, when he’s around, my life is constantly illuminated, and when he’s absent all I exist in is twilight.

Speaking of Twilight, I finished reading it last night. Or early this morning, however you wish to think of it. Then, since they craftily include an excerpt from the next book in the back of the first - and ended it at just the right place where you really want to know what happens next - I stole into my sister’s room at 2:45 in the morning and borrowed the next book in the series, New Moon. I think I ended up making myself stop around 4 this morning, and surprisingly I was awake a little after 11:30.

Work is…work. Nothing really new to report. I’m off today, which means I’ll probably be doing absolutely nothing. Possibly reading. Maybe swimming. Who knows. In any case, one more mention of yet another instance of “twilight,” and I’ll be off.

And I will never see the sky the same way and
I will learn to say goodbye to yesterday and I
Will never cease to fly if held down and
I will always reach too high cause I’ve seen, cause I’ve seen
Twilight….
